beautiful muddy mess

Last Saturday we all did the Bastogne perimeter walk. We walked it; we didn’t even run it. Really! A half marathon with the girls in strollers and Chili on the leash. In the muddy snow melt and cold, windy rain. There were mock-ups of fox holes and command posts along the way. Vintage cars drove by from time to time. What a miserable battle that must have been. But amazing to see how time and forgiveness can heal the rifts. Back then Germans and Allies killed each other. Today, they walk side-by-side: Brits, Germans, Americans, Belgians, etc. A colorful array of flags. Perhaps a glimpse of the beautiful variety that will characterize Heaven.
